Niles surprises Campbell; Poland routs E. Liverpool
Howland rallied to beat Struthers in another MAC game.
CAMPBELL — Ryan Frantz poured in 25 points and made seven 3-pointers to lead Niles over Campbell, 63-60, in a Metro Athletic Conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.
Dan Rosenberger added 19 points for the Red Dragons (7-11, 4-8 MAC), who led 33-22 at halftime.
Antwan Dawson and Lester Hughes shared scoring honors for Campbell (12-6, 7-5), with 15 apiece. Nate Hodge added 13 points and Jerah’me Williams had 11 for the Red Devils, who trailed 51-37 entering the fourth quarter before mounting a rally.
Poland 95, East Liverpool 47
POLAND — Poland put 13 players in the scoring column, four in double figures, as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten with an easy win over East Liverpool.
Poland (17-0, 12-0 MAC) was led by Ben Brocker with 14 points while Anthony DeFelice added 14, Ben Umbel 11 and Ben Donlow with 10. Donlow also had eight rebounds, while Umbel had 10 steals and seven assists.
East Liverpool (4-14, 1-11) was led by Martin Webb with 11 points.
Howland 62, Struthers 59
HOWLAND — Struthers held a six-point halftime lead, then stayed close into the low-scoring fourth period when Howland worked the ball around for decent shots against Struthers’ zone defense.
Junior forward Tyler Scott had 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Jared Kirin had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (12-6, 7-5). Kyle Spence added 11 points for Howland, which had a 39-25 advantage on the boards.
Struthers’ Jordan Morell had 20 points to lead all scorers.
