Boardman woman charged with grand theft

BOARDMAN — An Applecrest Court woman has been charged with grand theft, accused of taking more than $19,500 from her employer.

Police arrested Roxane Macklin, 44, Tuesday afternoon when she surrendered at the police station.

Last month, Family Dollar, Market Street, reported that Macklin, who formerly worked at the store, had stolen eight store deposits totaling about $19,583.

The store’s corporate headquarters noticed money was missing and after checking paperwork with the bank, store personnel discovered a five- to six-day lag in deposits being dropped off at the bank. The Jan. 14 deposit, for example, was dropped off on Jan. 22.

The store discovered that money was being stolen and the next day’s profits used to fill past deposit amounts, a report aid. She is expected in county court here Thursday.
