Bridal gown on Regis has McDonald connection
McDONALD — Employees of a village bridal gown distributor are celebrating the appearance of one of their dresses on the “Live with Regis and Kelly” show Wednesday.
The lacy gown with the empire waist was designed by England-based Augusta Jones, whose sole U.S. distributor is located in McDonald.
“We’re very excited,” said Saundra Farr, national director of sales and marketing for Augusta Jones. The local distribution center is home to just three employees.
Purchased at a New York bridal store by the editor of bridal Web site The Knot, the gown has a unusual and trendy design, Farr said.
“It’s sort of a Romeo and Juliet look with the capped sleeves, the low neck line and the empire waist,” said Farr. “That’s a new style a lot of people are going for.”
The dress is one of three to be featured in a fashion show marking the program’s Bridal Week, an annual feature in which a couple is selected to be married live on the show. The three employees of the distribution center will be watching with interest when the bride-to-be selects the one she will wear on her wedding day Friday. The exposure could be important for the relatively obscure designer, said Farr.
“We’re hoping she picks our dress,” she said.
