Youth football treasurer pleads guilty to theft
WARREN — The former treasurer of the Hubbard Little Eagles Youth Football League has pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of property in connection with theft of money from the league.
Susan Hetrick, 38, of Vista Drive, Hubbard, pleaded guilty today before Judge Peter Kontos in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, who ordered that a pre-sentence report be conducted. The report usually takes four to six weeks to prepare. In exchange for the plea, a charge of theft was dismissed.
David Toepfer, an assistant county prosecutor, said Hetrick stole about $20,000 from the league. She has made restitution in $13,000 and will pay back another $8,000.
Toepfer said there is no indication she was using the money for gambling or drugs, but rather the cash was used to pay household bills from March 2006 to May 2007.
