Applications available
for leadership program

YOUNGSTOWN — Applications for the Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2008-09 are available. Applications, which are due by May 1, may be requested by e-mail at lmv@leadershipmv.org or by phone at (330) 744-2131, ext. 41.

The community leadership program was created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment. The program provides adult community leaders with a general overview of the Mahoning Valley, an opportunity for increased understanding of key community issues and the potential to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.

Participants complete a 10-month program, which includes an opening retreat in the fall, a midyear retreat in January and eight monthly daylong sessions, which center on major community systems such as education, health, human service, government, justice, labor, business, media and the quality of life.

The selection committee will choose up to 40 participants. The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs.
