Rotary seeks professionals for study trip to Scotland

Rotary Clubs of Northwestern Pennsylvania are seeking four outstanding professional men and women to visit Scotland in September as part of the Group Study Exchange Program of the Rotary Foundation.

Applicants must be between 25 and 40 at the time of the trip, which will be about a month long. A Rotarian team leader will accompany them.

A Rotary district in the Northeastern part of Scotland will host the team. They will participate in group tours of Scottish business and industry, as well as government offices, schools and recreation areas. Each team member would be expected to spend five days in activities relating to his or her own profession.

The Rotary Foundation provides a round-trip air fare, and Rotarian hosts in Scotland provide meals, lodging and group travel in their district. Team members pay only for personal and incidental expenses.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must live or be employed within the Rotary District (from Cranberry Twp./Mars, Pa., north to Erie and from the Ohio line east to Dubois or Leechburg). They must be currently employed full time in a recognized business or profession. They must be in good health. Relatives of Rotary members are not eligible.

A team from Scotland will be hosted in western Pennsylvania during May/June of 2009. The exchange’s purpose is to promote international understanding and good will.
