Achieves rank of colonel

Air Force Col. Matthew L. Kell was been promoted to his current rank while assigned to the Air Force Material Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton. Kell, a material command intelligence squadron commander with 23 years of military service, is the son of Stanley and Justina Kell of East Palestine. His wife, Lisa, is the daughter of Sue and Andrew Medema of Valparaiso, Ind., and Bill and Elaine Glynn of Manitou Springs, Colo.

Kell graduated in 1979 from East Palestine High School, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. He earned a master’s degree in 1988 from the State University of New York, Binghamton.

Air Force: Airman April L. Campbell (Buckhannon Upshur High School, Buckhannon, W.Va., ’07), daughter of Lora Loy of Ellamore, W.Va., and Jeffrey Campbell of Niles; Airman Jarrod L. Fusco (South Range High School, North Lima, ’07), son of Robert Fusco of Canfield; Airman 1st Class Adam A. Cochran (Beaver Local High School, Lisbon, ’07), son of Melody Cochran of Wellsville; Airman Karl D. Gerstnecker (Laurel High School, New Castle, Pa., ’06), son of Eric and Carolyn Gerstnecker of New Castle.

Army: Reserve Pvt. Bradley J. Prow, son of Bernadine Vrooman of Sharon, Pa.

Marine Corps: Pfc. Jeffrey J. Penk (Springfield Local High School, New Middletown, ’07), son of Mary Jo Penk of New Middletown and James E. Penk Jr. of Poland.

910TH

Reservists assigned

Several Air Force Reservists have been assigned to the 910th Air Wing at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. They include:

Airman 1st Class Joshua J. Moffie, a security forces apprentice, is the son of Samuel M. and Helen M. Moffie of Austintown, and a 2005 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, Youngstown.

Airman Thomas H. Eldridge, assigned to the Logistics Readiness Squadron, is the son of Bonnie G. Sweitzer of Champion, and Thomas H. Eldridge of Warren, and is a 2007 graduate of Champion High School.

Airman Zachary T. Sain, a combat arms instructor, is the son of Jaquetta J. Gillespie of Champion, and a 2007 graduate of Champion High School.
