Toledo 59, Kent State 56

TOLEDO — Tyrone Kent’s last-second dunk and free throw capped an 8-0 Toledo run to end the game. The Golden Flashes (17-5, 6-2) had taken a 56-51 lead on on a pair of free throws by Al Fisher. But Jordan Mincy fouled Kent on a 3-point attempt and Kent hit all three free throws to pull Toledo to 56-54 with 1:06 left. Ridley Johnson’s had a tip-in with to tie the game with 26 seconds left, then Jonathan Avery’s steal with four seconds left set up Kent’s game-winner. Kent led the Rockets (7-13, 4-4) with 19 points, including 10-of-11 free throws while Jerrah Young had 10. Fisher had 18 points and Chris Singletary added 13 for the Golden Flashes.

Akron 80, E. Michigan 61

AKRON — Nate Linhart scored 12 points to lead Akron over Eastern Michigan. Jeremiah Wood and Nick Dials added 10 points a piece for the Zips, who went on an 18-2 run to begin the second half and open up what had been a close game. Akron (16-5, 6-2) shot better, rebounded better and took better care of the ball to beat Eastern Michigan, which suffered from cold shooting throughout the game. The Zips shot 57.7 percent from the field, including 61.5 percent from behind the 3-point line, during their red-hot second half. Tyler Jones led the Eagles (7-13, 3-5) with 17 points, all from 3-point shots and free throws. Jarred Axon added 14 points and Carlos Medlock contributed 11. Eastern Michigan shot only 33.3 percent for the game, including just 29.4 percent from behind the 3-point line.

W. Michigan 64, Bowling Green 50

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Joe Reitz scored 21 points and had nine rebounds to lead Western Michigan over Bowling Green. The Broncos (12-9, 6-2) led throughout and extended their home-winning streak to six. Beginning with a Reitz layup 32 seconds into the game, the Broncos scored the game’s first seven points in two minutes and hit six of their first seven shots. Chris Knight scored 13 points and Brian Moten had 12 for the Falcons. Andre Ricks scored 10 points for Western Michigan.

Miami 66, Ball State 54

MUNCIE, Ind. — Kenny Hayes scored 27 points and Miami hit 57 percent of its 3-pointers. Hayes sank 3-of-4 3-pointers, and Miami (10-10, 4-4) made 8-of-14 from beyond the arc. Hayes also hit 10-of-11 free throws. Michael Bramos added 15 points, and Eric and Tim Pollitz contributed 10 each for the RedHawks. Anthony Newell led Ball State (3-17, 2-6) with 17 points, and Melvin Goins added 15. Malik Perry grabbed nine rebounds to help the Cardinals to a 33-30 rebounding edge.

Ohio 73, N. Illinois 55

DEKALB, Ill. — Leon Williams scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Ohio to an easy win. Ohio (15-6, 6-2) used three 3-pointers by Bubba Walther during a a 16-3 run early in the first half to go ahead 25-13. The Bobcats expanded their lead over the Huskies (5-15, 2-6) to 20 points at halftime, and kept the margin in double figures the rest of the way. Sean Smith scored 19 points and Darion Anderson added 16 points and eight rebounds for Northern Illinois. Jerome Tillman scored 17 points and Walther finished with 15 points for Ohio.
