"Sisters in Red" at YSU


YOUNGSTOWN — Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University will be the setting from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 8 for “300 Sisters in Red,” a women’s heart-health awareness event.

Registration for the free event is required by Feb. 29 and can be made by calling the toll-free Humility of Mary Healthline, (877) 700-4647. Only the first 300 registrations will be accepted, and those attending are encouraged to wear red in support of the campaign for women’s heart-health awareness.

The day’s schedule is as follows:

U 8 to 10 a.m., appointments required for free health screenings including cholesterol, blood sugar and and a limited number of bone density tests (which require a 12 hour fast)

U Massages, refreshments, interactive dance and fitness, door prizes, informational displays will be available.

U 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 the speakers and their themes are: “Diabetes and How It Relates to Heart Disease” by Dr. Darrell Lynn Grace; “Helping Your Child Keep a Healthy Weight, Avoiding Obesity-Part 1” by Dr. Joan L. Boyd; and “Helping Your Child Keep a Healthy Weight, Avoiding Obesity-Part 2” by Roy Thomas
