’Hounds win 4-3 in shootout


OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Eric Przepiorka and Jason Baird scored in the shootout, and goaltender Eric Franck stopped four of five shots, as the Youngstown SteelHounds rallied to defeat the Oklahoma City Blazers, 4-3, Saturday night in a Central Hockey League game.

Kirill Starkov, Przepiorka and Joel Irving had regulation goals for the SteelHounds (25-14-2), who rallied from a 3-1 deficit after one period.

Garrett Prosofsky, Marty Standish and D.J. Jelitto had first-period tallies for the Blazers (19-19-6), who outshot Youngstown 18-5 in the opening period.

Peter Pohl had two assists for the SteelHounds.

Oklahoma City shot first in the shootout. Franck stopped Michael Kaye, then Przepiorka scored for the SteelHounds. Mike Burgoyne tied the score at 1 for the Blazers, and Starkov and Pohl missed on their shots for Youngstown. After two misses for the Blazers, Baird gave Youngstown a 2-1 lead, then Franck stuffed Jelitto to secure the win.

The SteelHounds play host to the Texas Brahmas Tuesday in a special 10:30 a.m. game at the Chevrolet Centre.
