Seeking missing girl

AUSTINTOWN — Police are seeking a 17-year-old township girl who is believed to have run away. Danielle M. Armfield, who lives on Sprucewood Court, has been missing since Jan. 8. The girl’s grandmother, who has custody of her, returned from an out-of-town trip to find her missing, police report. She is a junior at Fitch High School. She is 5 feet tall, weighs 120 pounds and has red hair. Anyone with information on her whereabouts can call Detective Sgt. Ray Holmes at the police department at (330) 270-5109.

Attempted robbery arrest

SALEM — A Salem man was arrested in an attempt to rob the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Wednesday night. On Thursday night, the house where he was living caught on fire. The blaze rekindled about 4 a.m. Friday. David Broyhill, 51, of 430 Cherry St., was charged with robbery after he was accused of giving a note to the pharmacist asking for drugs. The pharmacist refused. Police found Broyhill outside the nearby Salem Community Hospital. The fire department said it was called to the Cherry Street home about 7 p.m. Thursday. Winds rekindled the fire about 4 a.m. Friday. Fire Chief Jeff Hughes estimated the contents and house were valued at a total of $35,000, and were a total loss. No ruling has been made on the cause of the fire.

Dead man identified

NEGLEY — The Columbiana County Coroner’s Office has identified Douglas G. Haggarty, 52, of state Route 154, Negley, as the man who died late Wednesday on his property. A relative found Haggarty below a tree stand. Brian Fullum, an investigator for the coroner’s office, said he couldn’t comment further on the ongoing investigation.

Law licenses reinstated

COLUMBUS — A Canfield attorney and two East Liverpool lawyers were among many Ohio attorneys to regain use of their law licenses this week, according to a release by the Ohio Supreme Court. Dale Elmer Bricker of Canfield and Marian Delores Davidson and Richard Vincent Hoppel, both of East Liverpool, were all suspended from the practice of law in December for failing to file a 2007-2009 Certificate of Registration and paying the associated fees by Nov. 30. All three were reinstated after filing the registration and paying the registration and reinstatement fees.

Mineral Ridge meeting

MINERAL RIDGE — The Mineral Ridge Beautification Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mineral Ridge Fire Station. David Rouen, Weathersfield Township fiscal officer, will speak on obtaining grants. Anyone interested in improving the appearance of Mineral Ridge is invited to attend.

Prizes for bookworms

EAST PALESTINE — Beginning Monday, readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Winter Bookworm Program at East Palestine Memorial Public Library. Each time a participant submits a completed book review form, it will be entered into a random drawing to win a medium Blizzard at East Palestine Dairy Queen. Book review forms are available at the library. One adult and one child will win each week. This program will continue through March 29. Austintown fire

AUSTINTOWN — A fire at 4599 Rhode Island Drive did $15,000 damage to the laundry room and kitchen at a townhouse there, the fire department reported. The fire happened at 2:37 p.m. Thursday. The fire department believes the cause was electrical, near the clothes dryer. No one was injured.
