JFK trips Chaney in 87-80 win; Canfield rallies past Niles, 68-58
Boardman lost to Hoover in the Federal League tourney semifinals.
YOUNGSTOWN — Nick Brown scored 31 points as the Warren JFK High basketball team defeated Chaney, 87-80.
Stephen Procopio added 22 points to aid Warren JFK (6-10). Brian Guarnieri added 12.
Alan Burns had 20 points and Tyray Helms 17 with 12 rebounds to spark Chaney (4-13) while James Burns contributed 13 points and Isiah Fason 12.
Canfield 68, Niles 58
NILES — The Cardinals (14-2, 10-1 Metro Athletic Conference), leading 47-42 after three quarters, pulled away with a 21-16 surge in the final eight minutes.
Matt Keating paced the Cardinals’ balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Mike Podolski chipped in with 15 and Brian Fox finished with 14.
Ryan Frantz, Dan Rosenberger and Vince Melillo led the Red Dragons (6-11, 3-8) with 19, 17 and 13 points, respectively.
Campbell 69, Salem 51
CAMPBELL — Lester Hughes’ 13 points led the Red Devils (12-5, 7-4 MAC).
Antwan Dawson netted 12 points while T.J. Robbins had 11 and Nate Hodge 10. Robbins had seven of the Red Devils’ 34 rebounds. He also made three steals. Williams made seven assists.
For the Quakers (9-8, 4-7), Jordan Strabala scored 17 points while Phil Bennett had 10. Both had four rebounds.
North Canton Hoover 74, Boardman 39
NORTH CANTON — The Vikings shot 31 of 53 from the field while Boardman finished making 12 of 43 in the semifinals of the Federal League tournament.
Ryan Pesta had 14 points, while J.T. Moore, a sophomore, had eight rebounds for Boardman, which also suffered from 18 turnovers.
The Spartans (7-10, 2-7) have one more tournament game next Saturday at the Canton Civic Center when they play Jackson for third place. The Federal championship game will follow.
Boardman’s next game is Tuesday at East.

ALLIANCE — The Aviators improved to 13-3 overall and 7-4 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference while the Warriors slipped to 10-7, 7-4.
Steve McNeely and Alex Stull sparked the Warriors with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
