AT AREA CHURCHES Participants


These are among area youth groups at area churches are participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring program on Super Bowl Sunday. Churches and youth groups also are collecting for food pantries and holding other fund-raisers. Information was taken from church newsletters submitted to the Religion desk at The Vindicator.

Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Liberty: Youths will hold a Super Bowl pie and bake sale after Sunday services.

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge: After worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, church youths will collect monetary donations that will benefit Niles Community Services. Youths also will ask church members to sign up to donate canned goods and nonperishable items for the Deacons’ Cupboard. That will food will be distributed for Easter.

First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., Youngstown: Church youths will collect monetary contributions and donations of canned and nonperishable food items. All donations will go to Protestant Family Services for its food pantry.

Girard United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., Girard: Youth will collect canned soup and monetary donations, which will benefit Emmanuel Care Center in Girard.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman: Youth will collect monetary donations.

Liberty Presbyterian Church, 1451 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Youngstown: Canned goods and monetary donations will be used to replenish the Deacons’ Pantry.

Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown: Church members are asked to donated canned soups for the food pantry.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 3755 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 348 Robbins Ave., Niles: Monetary and canned good donations will be collected.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown: Monetary donations will be collected to benefit the Red Door Cafe at the church. The church also will participate with the Interdenominational Youth Coalition to collect cans of soup, crackers and small jars of peanut butter for distribution Feb. 18 at Goodwill Apartments.
