Oregon company buys
Youngstown SSA office
YOUNGSTOWN — The Social Security Administration office at 354 E. Federal St. has been sold for $3.4 million. A worker at the office said the agency leases the office, which was built in 2005, and referred questions to an official at the General Services Administration, who could not be reached.
Youngstown SSA, which is based near Chicago, was listed as the seller on a document filed with the county. A person answering the phone at that company said the Social Security office would remain at the building despite the sale but declined to comment further. The purchaser, Newby House of Portland, Ore., had no listed phone number.
Stoneridge lists
4th-quarter earnings
HOWLAND — Stoneridge earned $6.5 million, or 28 cents a share, in the fourth quarter, compared with $1.5 million, or 6 cents share, in the same quarter of 2006. Sales last quarter were $185.5 million, compared with $171.2 million in the year-earlier quarter.
Fourth-quarter results were up because of new offerings in electronics in Europe and North America and a more favorable sales mix in North America.
Stoneridge employs 6,000 workers on four continents, but nearly all of the employees are outside the Mahoning Valley. The company has its headquarters and an Alphabet Co. plant in Trumbull County.
