A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Jan. 25

Theft: A man reported money stolen from his briefcase while in the 700 block of North Main Street.

Criminal mischief: Someone broke several windows at ATC Lighting, 400 Myron St.

Criminal damaging: A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Hubbard man accused of failing to appear for arraignment on charges of criminal damaging and obstructing official business.

Jan. 26

Drugs: Officers issued a warrant for a Hubbard man on a charge of failure to appear for a violation-of-protection hearing. The original charge was possession of cocaine.

Domestic violence: Police arrested a Hubbard man after his girlfriend, of Grace Street, reported a situation.

Jan. 27

Assault: A man told authorities he had been in a fight at a North Main Street business.

Jan. 28

Theft: A man in a light blue vehicle left a Shell True North station, 204 W. Liberty St., without paying for gasoline.

LIBERTY

Jan. 24

Theft: A Youngstown woman discovered property had been taken from her while she was moving from a Church Hill Road residence.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 400 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road led to the arrest of a Cortland woman, 40. She was wanted on a warrant charging her with disorderly conduct.

Drugs: Officers investigated a suspicious person in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue and took into custody a 19-year-old Youngstown man on charges of trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and obstructing official business after saying they found five individually wrapped bags of suspected marijuana. The teen also tried to run from police, the report said.

Jan. 25

Bad check: A worker for Miller’s Towing Services, 4100 Belmont Ave., told officers a Youngstown woman wrote a $171.72 check later returned for nonsufficient funds.

Bad check: An employee with Ralph’s Auto Repair, 21 Fairlawn Ave., accepted a Youngstown woman’s check for car repairs and later discovered it had been written on a closed account.

Bad checks: A worker for Check ’n’ Go, 4501 Belmont Ave., told police a Masury man, 24, provided a phony Social Security number and pay stub while applying for an $800 loan. He also presented three checks as collateral, all of which were returned.

Criminal damaging: A wooden block was used to break and cause $50 worth of damage to a garage window at Liberty Auto Service, 3623 Belmont Ave.

Theft: A man in his 50s or 60s pumped $48 worth of gasoline and left a BP station, 2703 Belmont Ave., without paying.

Jan. 26

Possible theft: Police learned that a wooden structure had been built on a piece of property off Crew Hood Road without the owner’s knowledge. There, they found two wood-burning stoves, food, furniture, an air compressor, a generator and a 5-gallon gas can.

Theft: A worker for a Belmont Avenue restaurant found her purse after having reported it stolen, but noticed $10 missing.

Drugs: Authorities made two arrests after stopping a car on state Route 193 and said they found a small bag of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe in a pack of cigarettes. Charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was a 52-year-old Fowler man; a Youngstown man, 46, was taken into custody on a warrant from the county.

Jan. 27

Drug paraphernalia: After pulling over a driver in the 3900 block of Belmont Avenue, police arrested a 37-year-old man, no city listed, and said they found five hypodermic needles and a suspected crack cocaine pipe. He was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Arrest: Officers discovered a 25-year-old Youngstown man had 10 counts of driving under suspension against him after stopping his vehicle near Colonial Drive.

Jan. 28

Theft: A Powder Mill Run Road man reported the theft of $600 from his vehicle.

GIRARD

Jan. 26

Drugs: After being pulled over on North State Street, a 23-year-old Howland man faced charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia when, authorities said, a homemade foil pipe with suspected marijuana residue and a bag of about 1.2 grams of suspected marijuana were found.

Breaking and entering: A woman reported that a garage in the 300 block of Ohio Avenue had been broken into and that a $500 dirt bike was removed.

Menacing: A Patricia Drive man alleged his brother-in-law threatened to harm him for refusing to allow the relative to talk to the accuser’s wife.

Jan. 27

Burglary: An Abbey Street man and his daughters said they heard noises in their residence and saw that someone had entered through a side door and fled via the front door. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.

Jan. 28

Drugs: Police, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, concluded a two-month investigation by arresting a Girard man, 22, on a charge of trafficking in marijuana and a 20-year-old Girard man on a warrant charging him with the same crime. A search led to the discovery of more than 1 pound of suspected marijuana as well as suspected drug paraphernalia, the report showed.

Menacing: An East Prospect Street woman reported her sister barged into the accuser’s residence and threatened to kill her during an argument.

Theft: A Plymouth Avenue woman reported five rings stolen from her home, for a loss of $625.

Identity theft: A Seneca Drive woman found out someone used her debit card to make two purchases totaling $265.52.

Arrest: A traffic stop near South State and Hancock streets resulted in a 51-year-old Youngstown man’s being charged with falsification and driving under suspension. The man admitted providing a false name and date of birth to avoid being arrested on a separate warrant, police said.

Jan. 29

Aggravated menacing: A Verona Avenue woman alleged her former boyfriend, 35, of Youngstown, threatened to blow up her residence after refusing to allow him to enter.

Criminal damaging: An East Kline Street man told officers his 25-year-old former girlfriend broke a side window to his home.

Theft: A Campbell woman reported two DVDs and other property stolen when she lived in the 300 block of Iowa Avenue.
