nba roundup Tuesday’s other games

Knicks 93, Bobcats 89

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wilson Chandler scored seven of his 19 points in the final 4 minutes, and the Knicks beat the Bobcats to snap a six-game losing streak and improve to 2-0 against former coach Larry Brown. The Knicks recovered from blowing a 17-point lead and stayed perfect against Brown, who was fired after a miserable 23-59 record in 2005-06 season and is in his first season with the struggling Bobcats. Al Harrington added 16 points and six rebounds in his second straight game off the bench for the Knicks, who also got 13 points and 16 rebounds from David Lee.

Hawks 110, Pacers 104

INDIANAPOLIS — Joe Johnson scored 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, and the streaking Hawks beat the Pacers. Josh Smith had 24 points, Mike Bibby scored 15 and Al Horford added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Hawks, who have won six straight games and nine of 10. Danny Granger had 25 points, Jarrett Jack 22 and Jeff Foster finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Pacers in their fourth consecutive loss. After the Pacers cut Atlanta’s lead to one on Jack’s three-point play with 1:36 left, Johnson drained a 3-pointer to make it 108-104. Granger missed a layup on the Pacers’ ensuing possession, and Johnson hit two free throws to finish the scoring.

Hornets 97, Wizards 85

NEW ORLEANS — Chris Paul had 15 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds for his third triple-double of the season to lead New Orleans. Rasual Butler scored 21 points and David West 20 for New Orleans, which led most of the way and never trailed by more than a basket in its third straight victory. Antawn Jamison scored 22 for Washington, while Mike James added 16 points and seven assists against the team that traded him to the Wizards this season. James struggled defensively against Paul, however, fouling out in the fourth quarter, when he also was called for a technical for arguing with officials.

Suns 101, Grizzlies 89

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Leandro Barbosa scored 28 points, Shaquille O’Neal added 24 to move into eighth place on the NBA scoring list. The two-time MVP sat out with back spasms, but Barbosa filled in admirably. He connected on 10 of 18 shots and scored 22 points in the second half. O’Neal added 13 rebounds and three blocks, and his fourth-quarter dunk moved him past Oscar Robertson on the career scoring list with 26,711 points. O’Neal was 8-of-13 from the field and missed only two of his 10 free throws. Grant Hill had 15 points for the Suns, and Louis Amundson scored 10 off the bench. Hakim Warrick led Memphis with 25 points, while Marc Gasol finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Rudy Gay had 14 points and O.J. Mayo scored 12, but he missed 16 of 20 shots — including his last 13.

Mavericks 107, Timberwolves 100

DALLAS — Jason Terry scored 24 of his 29 points in the second half, and the Mavericks rallied from a 29-point deficit. The Timberwolves led 70-41 early in the third quarter when the Mavericks started their comeback, the largest in franchise history. Dallas’ first big push was a 22-2 run to get to 72-63. Terry scored 12 points as the Mavericks opened the fourth period outscoring the Timberwolves 22-7. Minnesota’s Al Jefferson had a three-point play to tie the game at 98 with 2:35 left. But Dirk Nowitzki, who scored 24 points, tipped in his own miss to give Dallas a 100-98 lead with 2:15 to go. Josh Howard hit a 3-pointer and Nowitzki punctuated the comeback with a layup that gave Dallas a 105-98 advantage.
