Valley temperature hits record-high 63


YOUNGSTOWN — After weeks of less-than-desirable weather, the Mahoning Valley was treated to a record-high Saturday in which the temperature reached 63 with dry conditions.

The previous high was 60 degrees, set in 1982. The normal high for Dec. 27 is 34, and the normal low is 20 degrees.

The weather will take a turn for the worse today, however, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory will be in effect through 9 p.m. today for Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The forecast calls for showers with a chance for thunderstorms early today.

Temperatures today are expected to drop into the upper 30s with winds 20 to 30 mph. .and gusts up to 50 mph. Chance of rain is 70 percent.

By tonight, the temperature will drop to the upper 20s with winds up to 35 mph, the weather service says.
