Dinner reception at Holiday Inn honors Connollys

• BOARDMAN — Mr. and Mrs. James Connolly, 680 Forestridge Drive, were honored during a dinner and reception at 6 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Holiday Inn as they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Invitations for the event were issued by their children and their spouses, James P. Connolly of Canfield, Patricia and Lou Antonelli of Medina, and Marcie and Mark Niemi of Bath. There are six grandchildren in the family.

Among the special guests were Mrs. Connolly’s sister, Marcie Jones, and her family from Atlanta, Ga.

The couple were united in marriage on Dec. 20, 1958, at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church in Youngstown. They are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

The former Margaret Potts, who is known as Peggy, began her teaching career at Washington School in Youngstown and with Canfield Local Schools. In 1978 she joined Marge Schaffer as a teacher and administrator at Peg-Mar Creative Preschool at Calvary Baptist Church in Canfield, and retired as a teacher at Robinwood Lane School in Boardman.

Mr. Connolly taught at Kirkmere and Bennet schools and was a principal at Bancroft and at Garfield schools, all in the Youngstown City School District. He retired as a principal with Poland schools.
