HERMITAGE, Pa. — Police said they arrested a Farrell man after he was involved in a car chase in which a Southwest Regional police officer was hurt.
Edward A. Green, 21, of Spearman Avenue, purposely rammed a Southwest Regional police car during the chase, Hermitage police said.
Hermitage police tried to stop Green after he was clocked speeding on Broadway Avenue at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Green tried to flee, police said. A Southwest Regional car tried to stop him on Canal Street as he headed to Broadway. He rammed the cruiser, injuring the officer, police said. They did not identify the officer or give details about his injury.
Green got out of the car and tried to run, police said. He was caught by Southwest Regional officers about one-quarter mile away and he gave a false name, police said.
Green was charged with aggravated assault, flight to avoid prosecution, false ID to law enforcement, fleeing and eluding, and unsworn falsification to authorities.
Police also discovered Green was wanted on a felony warrant in Butler County. He was taken to the Mercer County jail after failing to post a $75,000 bond.
