Hotel evacuated after waterline breaks
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Employees and about 60 guests at a Pittsburgh-area Holiday Inn have been evacuated because of a water main break.
The burst early Wednesday was in the Holiday Inn in Braddock Hills, a town about 10 miles east of Pittsburgh. Fire officials say a 5-inch pipe in the sprinkler system above the 11th floor burst. Within an hour, water was flowing through the lobby.
Edgewood Fire Chief Dave Andrews says the hotel will remain closed until an electrical inspection is conducted and structural engineers determine the building is safe.
Hotel guests have been relocated to a Holiday Inn in Monroeville, another Pittsburgh suburb.
