WARREN — A 35-year-old city woman reported being slashed with a knife in the parking lot of the Powerhouse Bar, 999 Mahoning Ave. N.W., around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday as she was getting out of her car. The woman said she was approached by a man. She asked him what he wanted, then noticed a second man swinging at her out of the corner of her eye, she said. The woman said she didn’t feel any punches but felt something warm running down her face. She got back in her car and drove to a cousin’s house, where she discovered that she had been cut on the right side of the head, left forearm and left hand. She received stitches at an area hospital for the head wound but no stitches for the eight-inch cut on her arm and two-inch cut on her hand, police said. She was unable to describe the clothing the men were wearing or other identifying details, police said.

Court orders probation

BROOKFIELD — Mercer County Common Pleas Court recently sentenced Evan Simpson, 22, of North Stateline Road, Masury, to 15 months’ probation for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. According to court records, on May 31, 2007, he was caught in Sharon with a stolen car stereo valued at $254.

Driver killed in I-76 crash

PALMYRA — Neetika Dhir, 29, of Youngstown was killed in a crash on Interstate 76 westbound, west of state Route 225 in Portage County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Ravenna post. Dhir, traveling eastbound, drove through the snow-covered median around 6:30 p.m. Monday and slid into the westbound lane, striking the front end of a tractor-trailer traveling westbound in the passing lane. When the truck driver moved to the right lane, Dhir’s vehicle was struck by another semi traveling westbound in the right lane, the patrol said. The truck drivers were not injured. What caused Dhir to cross the median is under investigation.

Robber orders cash after canceling Arby’s combo

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are looking for a man who robbed an Arby’s on Market Street Tuesday afternoon. According to the report, a man came into the Arby’s at 3130 Market St. at 3:45 p.m. and asked the cashier for a No. 1 combo meal. But within moments of the request he demanded, “Forget it. Just give me all of the money or I’ll blow your head off.” The cashier screamed and immediately fled, and a manager who emerged from the back met the demand by removing the register drawer. Employees said the perpetrator did not present a weapon, but had a hand in his pocket as though he might. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with a “light mustache.” He was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, and fled toward Boston Avenue, the report states. Police obtained a copy of the restaurant’s surveillance video and the cash drawer as evidence. No estimate of the stolen money was provided.
