Fire at vacant house causes $2,000 damage

YOUNGSTOWN — A fire set under the front porch area of 3647 Powers Way on the South Side did not extend to the inside of the vacant house, the fire department said.

The front and side doors were removed around 2 a.m. Tuesday so authorities could check the interior. Firefighters said they found holes cut into the floor and recommended that the structure be torn down.

Damage was set at $2,000.
