Fire set under porch of vacant South Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — A fire set under the front porch area of 3647 Powers Way on the South Side around 2 a.m. today did not extend to the inside of the vacant house, the fire department said. The front and side doors were removed in order to check the interior. Firefighters said they found holes cut into the floor and recommended that the structure be torn down. Damage was set at $2,000.
