Stevens’ 20 lead Champion girls past Niles, 48-26

CHAMPION — Erika Stevens scored 20 points to lead the Champion High girls basketball team to a 48-26 victory over Niles Saturday.

Champion (3-4) outscored Niles 19-9 in the third quarter to pull away. Jessica Nicholas added 10 rebounds.

Courtney Christie scored 11 points for Niles (0-7).

Norton 60, Southeast 36

RAVENNA — Southeast made it close in the first half, trailing only 25-19 at the intermission, but Norton pulled away in the third quarter with a 24-4 surge.

Mya Levels of the Pirates (0-7, 0-5 Portage Trail Conference) took scoring honors with 25 points.

Swimming

CANTON — Area athletes who placed in the top eight positions at the Christmas Invitational Swim Meet at C.T. Branin Natatorium were Emilee Gysegem (Lakeview) in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke; Katie Joseph (McDonald) in the 50 and 100 freestyle; Jordon Moxley (Maplewood) 50 freestyle, and Boardman in the 200 freestyle relay.
