Gunman robs teen on North Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A Waynesburg (Pa.) University student said a gunman took his cellphone, earrings and watch early Sunday.

The 19-year-old victim told police he was going to a party on Ohio Avenue about 1:30 a.m. As he approached his friend’s car, which was at the curb in the 1600 block of Stewart Avenue, a man wearing a ski mask emerged and pointed an AK-47 at the man and his friend.

The two fled, but the victim tripped, and when he got up, the gunman pointed the weapon at him and told him to empty his pockets, a police report said.

The victim complied, and the robber then demanded his jewelry. The man surrendered that too and the robber then patted the victim down before running toward Wick Park.
