PHILADELPHIA — Scott Hartnell scored three goals, Jeff Carter added a pair, and Antero Niittymaki stopped a season-high 47 shots as Philadelphia snapped Washington’s five game winning streak.

Canadiens 4, Sabres 3, OT

MONTREAL — Alex Kovalev scored with 24.3 seconds left in overtime to lift Montreal. Kovalev converted Montreal’s second straight overtime power-play opportunity when he scored for the third game in a row following a 19-game drought.

Red Wings 6, Kings 4

DETROIT — Dan Cleary scored with 1:34 left to break a tie and lift Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk and Jiri Hudler both had a goal and an assist, and Andreas Lilja, Mikael Samuelsson and Kris Draper added goals for Detroit.

Thrashers 4, Lightning 3

ATLANTA — Kari Lehtonen gave up goals on the first two shots he faced in his first game in seven weeks, but didn’t let another puck get past him until late in the Thrashers’ win. Lehtonen had been out since Oct. 30 due to a back injury.

Senators 5, Stars 4, OT

OTTAWA — Jason Smith scored 3:30 into overtime to lift the Senators, who had lost five of six and netted only five goals in their previous five games, including one into an empty net.
