IT’S A WRAP: Students from area high schools, who will be volunteer gift-wrappers during a Jewish Community Center gift-wrap fundraiser on Dec. 24 at the Southern Park Mall, watch as Brendan Paull of Boardman High School demonstrates the gift-wrapping technique he learned during the past two weeks in preparation for the fundraiser.
BOARDMAN — The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is conducting its 12th annual gift-wrap fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Southern Park Mall, directly across from Macy’s near the BW3 entrance.
Boxes will be available for purchase, and all gifts will be wrapped for a donation.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the center’s scholarship programs, which provide services to families in need throughout the community.
Volunteers from the center as well as teens from BBYO, Liberty, Struthers, Poland, Canfield and Boardman high schools will man the wrapping station.
During the past two weeks, Gail Froomkin, director of membership and fundraising at the center, has been teaching the students the intricacies of expert gift wrapping in preparation for the holiday event. Anyone interested in taking part in the project is invited to participate, and an expert will be on hand to show beginners how to gift wrap correctly. For more information or to volunteer, contact Froomkin at (330) 746-3251, Ext. 153.
The Jewish community Center, a nonprofit organization, provides comprehensive services to children, including infant and toddler care, preschool, child care and programs for school-aged children. In addition, it offers fitness, aquatics and cultural and recreational programming for entire families at the facility, 505 Gypsy Lane, across from Forum Health Northside Hospital.
