Brown erupts for 40 in JFK’s victory

WARREN — Warren JFK senior Nick Brown scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Saturday to lead the Eagles to a 65-45 win over visiting Girard in a high school boys basketball game.

Brown, a 6-foot-7 senior, made four 3-pointers and split his points evenly, scoring 21 in the first half (as JFK took a 35-23 lead) and 19 in the second half.

DeAnte Stubbs added seven points for JFK (3-1).

Joe Augustine scored 12 points to lead Girard (0-5).

Southington 60, Bristol 41

BRISTOLVILLE — The Wildcats’ defense limited Bristol to eight points in the first quarter, six in the second and eight in the fourth in rolling to the victory.

Brad Gilanyi took scoring with 22 points.

John Evans paced the Panthers (1-3) with 11 points.
