Warren woman indicted in case police categorized as road rage

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — A 22-year-old city woman accused of chasing a driver around the Bazetta Wal-Mart parking lot in what police call a road-rage incident has been indicted on three misdemeanor charges.

Jessica Bova, 22, of Peach Lane Southwest, was indicted on charges of aggravated menacing, criminal damaging and assault, all first-degree misdemeanors.

The grand jury refused to indict Bova on the more serious charge of felonious assault, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison upon conviction.

Bazetta Township police said Bova, while driving behind another vehicle, struck the other vehicle driven by a Southington man. The incident occurred in the midst of what police described as road rage May 27, 2008.

Witnesses reported that Bova almost struck several pedestrians while chasing the man, who was a stranger to her, police said.

Because the grand jury refused to indict on any felony charge, the case will be sent back to Central District Court in Cortland.

If convicted, Bova could be sentenced to up to six months in jail on each of the misdemeanor charges.
