YOUNGSTOWN — Christian Women United For Jesus is seeking help for an expectant mother with three small children. The expectant mother was given a $100 gift certificate donated by Wal-Mart, but she needs beds and furniture for her apartment. Anyone wishing to help can call Doris Justice at (330) 727-6779.

Choirs to perform

NEW WATERFORD — Children and the adult choir will sing holiday selections at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at Abundant Life Church, 46469 state Route 46. Jeff Schoch will speak about “Hearts Revealed,” delving into what happens when Jesus comes onto the scene. The regular Sunday night service of worship, the word and ministry will be at 7 p.m.

Rock ’n’ roll Christmas

LIBERTY — Chords of Christmas, the Mahoning Valley’s rock ’n’ roll holiday experience, will perform a benefit concert featuring music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at 7 p.m. Sunday at Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill-Hubbard Road. Admission is free, but and a free-will offering will be collected to benefit the Volunteer Services Agency and to offset show expenses.

Christmas caroling

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Members and friends of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., will be Christmas caroling at 6 tonight.They will carpool to visit homebound members and friends, and the event is open to anyone in the community. Warm refreshments will follow.

EAST PALESTINE — The Rev. Mark McTrusty, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, will return as guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in First Untied Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St.

Lessons and carols

HOWLAND — The church choirs will lead the congregation in a Service of Lessons and Carols at 10 a.m. Sunday in Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road SE. Seven readers will relate the story of Christmas from Scripture, each followed by the singing of carols. A men’s quartet, the Children’s Choir, the Chancel Choir and the Howland Ringers will also perform.

Christmas cantata

CAMPBELL – The Adult Choir of Baptist Bible Temple, 230 Lettie Ave., will present its Christmas cantata at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Divine liturgy

YOUNGSTOWN — Divine liturgy observing the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the Church will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in St. Michael’s Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, 125 Steel St. A fellowship hour and coffee social will follow in the church basement.

Instrumental prelude

YOUNGSTOWN — The Adult Chancel Choir and the Youth Handbell Choir will perform an instrumental prelude at 4 p.m. for the 61st annual Christmas Vespers Service Sunday in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd. Wassail in Parlor is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

HUBBARD — The Chancel Choir will present the cantata “Let Earth Receive Her King” at the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday in Coalburg United Methodist Church, 1906 Wick Campbell Road.

10-foot Menorah

NILES — The Mahoning Valley Jewish community will commemorate Chanukah with the illumination of a 10-foot Menorah in the J.C. Penney Concourse of Eastwood Mall at 4 p.m. Sunday. It will remain on display through the eight-day Festival of Lights that ends Dec. 29. The 14th annual Menorah lighting will feature musical presentations by students from Akiva Academy, the Commission for Jewish Education and area musicians as well as traditional Chanukah foods.
