Charged in stabbing sister

YOUNGSTOWN — A city woman was charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault in the stabbing of her sister.

Khadijh Salahuddin, 25, of 245 Lora Ave., was arrested at her home after police arrived there at 3:53 p.m. Friday, a police report said.

Police said that when they arrived, Salahuddin was sitting on the couch watching TV and her sister was on the kitchen floor with three stab wounds to her back, one to her chest and two to her leg.

Police said the weapon was a knife.

Another family member told police Salahuddin stabbed her sister after the two argued over a jacket, the report said.

Police took her to the Mahoning County Jail, while the victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The hospital would not give information on her condition.

Fire being investigated

SHARON, Pa. — The city fire department is investigating the cause of a fire at 407 Russell St. Friday.

The blaze started at 3:45 p.m. at the vacant house, the fire department said.

The house was substantially damaged, the department said.
