The Penguins hit a stretch where they were outscored 24-2 in the second half, but still rallied to make a game out of it before bowing. The Penguins got a career-high 24 points from sophomore guard Vance Cooksey against the Flashes, while junior Kelvin Bright had his second straight 20-point effort with 21 points. High Point, which is coming off a 71-57 loss at home to Towson last Saturday, is 3-3 at home this season, 3-2 against non-conference opponents. The Panthers are members of the Big South Conference. The series: This will be the first-ever meeting between the Penguins and the Panthers.The Penguins are 2-1 all-time against the Big South Conference, going 2-0 against Radford and are 0-1 against Liberty. Next up: The Penguins will wind up their three-game road trip on Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. tip-off at Charlotte, N.C. That contest will be broadcast on WBBG-FM 106.1 because of a Cleveland Browns broadcast conflict. The Penguins then will be idle until Dec. 29 when they return home to meet Lock Haven in a 7:05 p.m. contest at Beeghly Center.
