Top 25 roundup \ Thursday’s games
MEN
No. 1 North Carolina 91, Evansville 73
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Tyler Hansbrough scored 20 points to break North Carolina’s career scoring record. The reigning national player of the year had nine rebounds for North Carolina (10-0), which shook off a slow start and stretched the lead to double figures shortly after Hansbrough passed Phil Ford for the record midway through the first half. Ford finished his career with 2,290 points in 1978. Hansbrough needed nine points coming in and set the record by muscling in a bank shot over two defenders with 7:41 to go. After the record-setting point, officials briefly stopped the game to allow Ford, coach Roy Williams and athletics director Dick Baddour to present Hansbrough with the game ball. Ty Lawson added 16 points for the Tar Heels. Shy Ely had 23 points for the Purple Aces (7-2).
WOMEN

No. 11 Tennessee 81, Old Dominion 76
NORFOLK, Va. — Angie Bjorklund matched her career high with 29 points and hit two huge 3-pointers as Tennessee got back to its winning ways by prevailing in a back-and-forth battle with longtime rival Old Dominion. Tennessee (8-2), coming off a 73-59 loss at Texas that knocked it out of the top 10 after a record 211 consecutive weeks there, won for the 13th straight time in the series between two of the schools that first brought women’s college basketball to prominence.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Monica Wright scored a game-high 28 points to lift Virginia.
