Robbers thwarted at Warren Payless Shoe store

WARREN — Two men entered the Payless Shoe store at 4488 Youngstown Road Southwest at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, handed a note to a clerk demanding money, but the clerk didn’t give up any money, and the men eventually walked out without anything.

The note read: “Calmly give me the money and nobody will get hurt. Don’t be stupid,” Warren police said. But the clerk “stood there and just looked at the note,” police said.

“The suspect did not say anything and walked out. Soon after, the second male left,” police said. Police arrived but did not locate the suspects.

One of the men wore a dark hat, the other wore a black scarf around his head and white hoodie.
