Yambar to sign books at Eastwood Mall gallery

NILES — Chris Yambar, the pop artist, writer and comic-book artist based in Youngstown, will sign copies of his comic books and other items at the Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.

Yambar is one of the writers of “Bart Simpson” and “Mr. Magoo” comics, and has his own comic titles, including “Mr. Beat,” “El Mucho Grande,” “Suicide Blonde,” “Life Maxx,” “The Twerp” and “The Blue Baboon.”

The gallery is across from American Eagle Outfitters, along the concourse between Macy’s and J.C. Penney’s.

GIRARD — His Music Connection will present contemporary Christian artists 24 Flames and Jennifer Shaw during the Dec. 20 Christmas Coffee House Concert at the old Wellman Theater, 29 W. Liberty St.

Studio show, sale includes belly-dancing

YOUNGSTOWN — Eos Whole Fitness Studios, 1931 Belmont Ave. (the former Chrystal’s Restaurant building) will have a holiday hafla and souk (party and marketplace) from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.

Events include belly-dancing (tribal fusion and Romany); acoustic, digital and electronic music; drumming and poetry; and a henna artist.

Gifts, ranging from organic body care and fragrance to tribal jewelry and textiles as well as local art and apparel, will be sold.

There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door and refreshments will be served.

Eos Whole Fitness is a health and wellness studio specializing in belly-dance and yoga instruction for individuals of all fitness levels.

It is part of a collective group of businesses seeking to support and promote the arts in the local community.

“The holiday hafla and souk features some of the best talent the area has to offer representing the ideal of the studio, accentuating and highlighting a unification and meshing of cultures, ultimately creating tolerance and understanding,” said studio owner Jennifer R. Neal said.
