Men’s top 25 \ Wednesday’s other games

No. 6 Duke 99, UNC Asheville 56

DURHAM, N.C. — Gerald Henderson and Kyle Singler both scored 14 points after being benched at the start of Duke’s rout. Jon Scheyer added 13 points for the Blue Devils (9-1), who juggled the lineup after they were upset 11 days earlier at Michigan. Coach Mike Krzyzewski benched his regular starting lineup in favor of five players who had combined to make one start this season. The Blue Devils took control with an early 27-8 run and coasted to their 65th consecutive nonconference victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Reid Augst, the only senior on UNC Asheville’s roster, scored 15 points and John Williams added 11. The Bulldogs (4-6) lost their sixth straight against Division I opponents and fell to 0-50 all-time against Atlantic Coast Conference teams. Brian Zoubek, Greg Paulus and Nolan Smith all scored 12 points for the Blue Devils, who spent nearly two weeks figuring out what went wrong at Michigan, then improved to 14-1 under Krzyzewski following a break of 10 or more days between games. To shake things up, Coach K started Paulus, David McClure and Martynas Pocius plus freshmen Elliot Williams and Miles Plumlee, who started the season opener and was the only one of the five with starting experience this season.

No. 11 Syracuse 82, Canisius 60.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Rick Jackson scored a career-high 14 points, Paul Harris added 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Syracuse rebounded from its first loss of the season. Syracuse (10-1) seemed to still be thinking about Cedric Jackson’s buzzer-beating shot from beyond halfcourt that gave Cleveland State a 72-69 victory Monday night. But after yet another sluggish start, Syracuse settled down and handed Canisius (3-7) its fourth straight loss. The Golden Griffins led by six points early and the game was tied four times in the first 17 minutes. But after Julius Coles hit a 3 to tie it at 31-all, Andy Rautins hit a 3-pointer to begin a 12-3 Syracuse run to close the half. Jackson started the second half with a resounding dunk and a follow hook, and Harris slammed home a dunk as Syracuse scored the first seven points.

No. 19 Michigan St. 79, The Citadel 65

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Raymar Morgan had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Michigan State survived a 3-point barrage from The Citadel. Morgan was 6-for-6 from the field in the first half and 11-for-12 overall for the Spartans (7-2), who led 37-19. Austin Dahn had 17 points, including five 3-pointers, for The Citadel (5-6), which cut the deficit to 41-33 at halftime and stayed competitive with the Spartans throughout the second half. Chris Allen had 12 points and a career-high seven rebounds for the Spartans, while Durrell Summers added 12 points and Delvon Roe 10. Michigan State got four points in 17 minutes from center Goran Suton, who returned after undergoing arthroscopic surgery 13 days ago and played for the first time since Nov. 19.

No. 23 Memphis 59, Ark.-Little Rock 51

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Robert Dozier scored 15 points and Shawn Taggart and Tyreke Evans both added 12 as Memphis weathered a late rally. Dozier missed only one of his four shots from the field and was 9-of-12 from the line as the Tigers (6-2) rebounded from a 79-70 overtime loss at Georgetown on Saturday. Memphis appeared to be in control, leading by 18 points with just under 10 minutes left. But a rally by the Trojans that included 3-pointers from Curtis Jackson, Matt Mouzy and Steven Moore cut the deficit to 51-45 with 2:26 left. UALR (7-3) got within five points on several occasions late, but Memphis was able to hold on down the stretch, despite not scoring from the field over the final 8:07. Moore led UALR with 16 points.
