It turns out there are two Youngstowners on the new NBC dating show “Momma’s Boys.”

The Vindicator had a story Monday about Misty Alli, a Boardman native who is one of the 32 young women competing for three bachelors on the reality series. What we didn’t know was that Vita Alexander Harris of Youngstown is also one of the contestants.

As if that’s not unusual enough, Alexander Harris and Alli — who had never met before being cast together on “Momma’s Boys” — discovered they live practically around the corner from each other in Los Angeles.

“Momma’s Boys” premiered Tuesday.

Alexander Harris (she’s known as Vita Alexander on the show) is a 2002 graduate of Ursuline High School. The daughter of Richard Harris and Felicia Alexander, she is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a degree in nursing.

Alexander moved to LA after college, where she is a registered nurse at UCLA Medical Center. She has no intention of being an actress, and had no prior screen or stage credits.

“I auditioned for fun,” she told The Vindicator. “I was at a club in Hollywood and there was a casting party going on, so I said, ‘what the heck, I’m here.'" She wound up getting chosen.

Alexander has been in the Air National Guard for six years. She was originally stationed in Mansfield, Ohio, but transferred to a base in California after she moved. She will soon be merging her two careers into one by becoming a flight nurse for the Guard.

Alexander’s real ambition, however, is to be a writer. Toward that end, she has written her first novel — “A Mad Woman’s Anthem” — and is shopping it around. She hopes to see it published next year.

“It’s about a young woman trying to find love, but every man she meets is not on the same level as she is,” she said. “She finally meets a guy who portrays himself as the perfect man, but it turns out to be all lies. He dogs her, and she goes mad and seeks revenge. She does some bad things!”

“Momma’s Boys” next airs at 9 p.m. Monday on NBC. The show then moves to 10 p.m. for four consecutive Mondays beginning Dec. 29.
