Lude lifts Western Reserve


His buzzer-beater gave the Blue Devils a 65-63 win over Wellsville.

BERLIN CENTER — Justin Lude’s buzzer-beater Tuesday gave the Western Reserve High basketball team its first win of the season.

With the score tied with seven seconds remaining, Lude pulled down a missed 3-point attempt by Wellsville’s Deshon Pullie. He then went the length of the court and scored a layup at the buzzer to give Western Reserve a 65-63 victory.

Lude led the Blue Devils (1-2, 1-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two) with 20 po and five rebounds. Matt Hubbs scored 13 points while Eric Kennehan had nine points and six assists.

For Wellsville (2-1, 1-1), Jeremy Carter scored 19 points and Pullie 17.

McDonald 92, Jackson-Milton 40

NORTH JACKSON — The unbeaten Blue Devils (4-0, 2-0 ITCL2) rushed out to a 30-4 lead in the first quarter and put the game out of reach 55-13 by intermission.

Lance Ronghi paced the balanced scoring attack with 20 points. Matthias Tayla added 19, Devin Bansberg 13 and Cola Accordino had 10.

Ben Carlile led the Bluejays (0-4, 0-2) with 10 points. Jacob Carlile finished with eight.

Leetonia 62, Sebring 40

LEETONIA — The Bears built a commanding 44-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Jake McNally scored 16 points to key the Leetonia offense and ahe pulled down eight rebounds.

Andrew Trummer added 11 points and he grabbed eight rebounds and blocked five shots. Josh Selway scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had eight assists.

Aaron Vankirk led the Trojans (2-1, 1-1 ITCL2) with 13 points. Travis Irwin finished with 10.

Lowellville 62, Southern 51

LOWELLVILLE — Tony Schialdone scored 16 points while Anthony Schiraldi added 13 and Mauro Amendola 10 with five steals to lead Lowellville (2-1, 1-1 ITCL2). Anthony Alfano added five rebounds.

Andrew Diaz had 12 points and Eric Naker 11 to lead Southern (2-2, 1-1 ITCL2).

Crestview 65, South Range 48

NEW WATERFORD — The Rebels (3-2, 1-1 ITCL1), leading 35-29 at halftime, put the game out of reach with a 18-5 surge in the third quarter.

Jakob Leon and Carter Hill each scored 15 points for the Rebels, while Adam Coppock and Greg Bing added 10 apiece.

Alex Baker led the Raiders (2-1, 1-1) with 19 points. Joe Mihlan and Peter Oihn each had eight.

United 91, Columbiana 75

HANOVERTON — Zack Taylor’s 22 points led the Eagles to their first win.

Zack Lease contributed 21 points while Taylor Phillips had 13 for United 1-2, 1-1 ITCL1).

Jeremy Walker had 12 points and 10 rebounds while Jason Ramus scored 10 points.

For the clippers, Kevin Blinsky had a game-high 28 points. Josh Harold scored 11 points while Travis Denmeade and Tyler Denmeade had 10 apiece.

East Palestine 71, Mineral Ridge 33

MINERAL RIDGE — Ben Gysin collected 21 points and 15 rebounds to propel unbeaten East Palestine.

Branxton Mascher chipped in with 14 points and Matt Greene with 10 to aid East Palestine (4-0, 2-0 ITCL1).

Trevor Patterson had four points and four assists.

Cody Graham and Justin Lasher had eight points each for Mineral Ridge (0-3, 0-2 ITCL 1).
