Driver killed when tractor-trailer overturns

MERCER, Pa. — A tractor-trailer driver was killed in a rollover on Interstate 80 between Hermitage and Mercer, state police in Mercer reported.

Raphael Roberts, 37, of Reynoldsville, Pa., was killed instantly in the accident at 8:07 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Roberts was heading west on the highway when, for reasons unknown, he traveled off the right side of the road, police said.

When he tried to steer out of the mistake, his load shifted and caused the rollover, police said.

The right lane of westbound I-80 was closed for about two hours, police said.

Garden club, children plan caroling at church

Boil warning issued for part of Lordstown

LORDSTOWN — The Lordstown Water Department has issued a boil warning effective immediately for customers from 636 to 1055 Salt Springs Road only.

The warning will be in effect until 2 p.m. Friday unless otherwise notified.

A boil warning means that any water used for drinking or cooking must be boiled for at least three minutes before using. This only applies to drinking water and not water used for bathing or washing clothes.

Struthers schools seek diversion officer

STRUTHERS — The Struthers School District and city of Struthers are seeking applications for the position of diversion officer.

People who want to apply should sent a letter expressing their interest and a r sum to Superintendent of Struthers Schools, 99 Euclid Ave., Struthers 44471. The deadline for applying is Dec. 31.

Veterans commission moving to center

YOUNGSTOWN — Effective Monday, the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission will be in its new location at the Oakhill Renaissance Center, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Building A, Room 100.

The office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The commission offices at the Mahoning County Annex Building, 2801 Market St., will remain open there through Friday, and will be moved to their new home over the weekend.

Living Nativity planned

POLAND — The residents and staff of Shepherd of the Valley-Poland, 301 W. Western Reserve Road, are presenting a multigenerational living Nativity, open to the public, at 7:30 p.m. today. Residents and staff members have roles as well as children ages 3 though 8 playing lambs and other manger residents.
