No. 5 Texas 88, Texas Southern 72

AUSTIN, Texas — A.J. Abrams scored 27 points and Dexter Pittman added 19 to lead No. 5 Texas. Abrams had 16 points in the second half and Pittman added 15 for the Longhorns (9-1), who led 35-34 at halftime. The Tigers (0-9) opened the second half with a fullcourt press, and Pittman capitalized as the center scored 11 points in a 10-minute span. Matthew Miller led Texas Southern with 21 points, 10 over his season average. Freshman Varez Ward had 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Texas. Texas wasn’t able to pull ahead by more than five points in the first half. The Tigers took the lead with more than 3 minutes remaining on David Burrell’s fastbreak 3-pointer, but Ward hit a 3 from the wing at the buzzer to give the Longhorns the one-point lead.

No. 25 Clemson 76, North Florida 36

CLEMSON, S.C. — Trevor Booker had 16 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 25 Clemson move to 11-0 for the third time in four seasons. Booker was 6-of-9 from the field as the Tigers (11-0) extended their perfect season at the expense of winless North Florida (0-8). Clemson improved to 49-0 the past four seasons in games played before Dec. 22. The Tigers will be pressed to keep the streak going as they head to Miami on Sunday to start Atlantic Coast Conference play. Terrence Oglesby and Raymond Sykes had 10 points each for Clemson. Kyle Groothuis led the Ospreys with nine points.

WOMEN

No. 8 Duke 56, No. 3 Stanford 52

DURHAM, N.C. — Karima Christmas scored 10 of her career-high 14 points in the second half and chased down the critical rebound that led Duke. Chante Black added 14 points for the Blue Devils (7-1), who never trailed in the second half in snapping Stanford’s six-game winning streak. Duke improved its nonconference record at Cameron Indoor Stadium to 53-4 over the past eight seasons. Jayne Appel had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (7-2), while Jeanette Pohlen added 13 points, including a 3-pointer from the right corner with 1:05 remaining that pulled the Cardinal within 54-52. Black hit the front end of a 1-and-1 with 18.6 seconds left but missed her second attempt. Christmas outjumped the Cardinal’s front line for the rebound and got it to Abby Waner, whose free throw made it a four-point game. Duke outrebounded Stanford 40-39 despite the Cardinal having six players who are at least 6-foot-3 on the roster. The Blue Devils held the Cardinal to 38.5 percent shooting, snapping their three-game streak in which they made at least half their shots.

No. 7 Baylor 73, Texas-Pan American 27

WACO, Texas — Danielle Wilson had 23 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for Baylor, which played without injured leading scorer Rachel Allison.

Allison, who leads Baylor at 15.1 points per game, had played in 109 consecutive games and started 46 straight before missing Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury. Wilson extended her school record for blocked shots to 200.

Morghan Medlock, making her first start of the season in place of Allison, had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Bears (10-1). Teshay Winfrey had five points to lead the Lady Broncs (5-5), who shot 23 percent (11-of-48).

No. 16 Pittsburgh 98, Wagner 41

PITTSBURGH — Shavonte Zellous scored 26 points and Pittsburgh scored 36 points off 26 turnovers in extending its winning streak to eight games.

Taneisha Harrison scored 17 points, Shayla Scott and Xenia Stewart each added 12 and Pepper Wilson had 10 for Pittsburgh (8-1), which held a 23-point lead at halftime and extended it to 57 points with just under 2 minutes remaining.

Kanifa Hicks scored nine points to lead Wagner (3-5), which was outrebounded 59-28.

No. 18 Ohio St. 68, Delaware St. 35

COLUMBUS — Jantel Lavender was 12-of-13 from the field and had a season-high 29 points and 11 rebounds to lead Ohio State. Ohio State (9-2) held the Lady Hornets without a field goal for almost 9 minutes and took a 34-16 halftime lead. Cortney Crockett had 10 points for the Hornets (2-6).

No. 22 Oklahoma St. 58, Oral Roberts 48

STILLWATER, Okla. — Andrea Riley scored a season-low 14 points and Oklahoma State avoided an upset by an in-state rival. Riley entered the game ranked ninth nationally at 21.5 points per game, but went 2-of-14 from the field, including 1-of-8 from 3-point range, and committed eight turnovers. She went 9-of-14 from the free-throw line. Tegan Cunningham led Oklahoma State (5-2) with 16 points. Janae Voelker had 14 points for the Golden Eagles (5-5), who have lost four straight.
