Woman who helped get rid of body released early

CANTON (AP) — A woman who helped a police officer dispose of his pregnant lover’s body was granted parole Monday after serving half of a two-year prison term.

Myisha Ferrell, 31, will be on probation for three years, Stark County Common Pleas Judge Charles E. Brown Jr. said. She had pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in the 2007 death of Jesse Davis, 26.

Ferrell was a key witness against Canton police officer Bobby Cutts Jr., 31, who was convicted in February of killing Davis. Ferrell testified that she lied to investigators for Cutts, who is serving life in prison. Davis was nine months pregnant with Cutts’ child when she died.

Ferrell, a longtime friend of Cutts’, testified that Cutts picked her up in his truck the morning of June 14, 2007, with Davis’ body in the back and held up his right arm to demonstrate how he killed her.

Ferrell’s plea deal made her eligible for release after one year. The prosecutor’s office said it wouldn’t take a position on the parole request.

The judge prohibited Ferrell from contacting Cutts, his family or the victim’s family.
