First Night Youngstown seeks adult volunteers
YOUNGSTOWN — First Night Youngstown is seeking adult volunteers for the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration, which will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31 in downtown Youngstown and along Wick Avenue near the Youngstown State University campus.
Volunteers are asked to work at most a three-hour shift and in return will receive an admission button to attend the rest of the evening’s events and activities. The family-oriented, alcohol-free evening includes horse and carriage rides, skating at Chevrolet Centre, a laser light show at the YSU Planetarium, and the traditional ball drop with a fireworks show.
An orientation meeting for volunteers will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the First Night office in the City Centre One Building, 100 E. Federal St., Suite 150. An entrance is next to the YMCA building on Champion Street. Past participants and newcomers are encouraged to sign up. Location preference is given on a first-request basis.
