SALEM INCOME TAX

Possible increase

Salem officials are contemplating asking for an increase in the city’s 1 percent tax, which has grown slowly. Here are the receipts from recent years. A half-percent increase would bring in about $1.8 million a year, city officials said.

2003: $3.7 million

2004: $3.71 million

2005: $3.8 million

2006: $3.9 million.

2007: $3.98 million
