NHL \ Saturday’s other games

Bruins 4, Thrashers 2

BOSTON — Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist to extend his points streak to 15 games — the best in the NHL this season — and Michael Ryder scored two goals to lead Boston. It was the 11th consecutive home victory for the Bruins, their longest streak in 26 years. Manny Fernandez stopped 20 shots to win his eighth straight and improve to 6-0 with a 1.67 goals-against lifetime against Atlanta.

Sabres 4, Devils 2

NEWARK, N.J. — Thomas Vanek scored his NHL-leading 23rd and 24th goals, and Derek Roy scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period. Patrik Elias and Bobby Holik scored for New Jersey.

Capitals 2, Canadiens 1

MONTREAL — Mikael Nylander scored with 3:32 remaining in the third period, and Simeon Varlamov stopped 32 shots for Washington in his NHL debut. Nylander put a shot from behind the goal line into the net off goalie Jaroslav Halak’s pad. Nicklas Backstrom also scored for Washington. Patrice Brisebois scored for Montreal, which lost its second in a row to finish 4-2-1 on its franchise-record seven-game homestand.

OTTAWA — Martin Gerber made 24 saves for his first shutout of the season, and Alexandre Picard and Daniel Alfredsson scored for Ottawa.

Tampa Bay star Martin St. Louis left the game after being hit in the face by linesman Derek Amell’s skate in the final minute of the third period. St. Louis was bleeding profusely while being escorted to the dressing room. The Lightning were coming off a 3-1 victory in Montreal on Thursday night that snapped their nine-game losing streak. Tampa Bay is 2-8-4 since interim coach Rick Tocchet took over for the fired Barry Melrose.

NEW YORK — Henrik Lundqvist stopped all five shots in the shootout and Chris Drury scored the only goal in the tiebreaker for New York.

Drury beat Cam Ward with a deke to his backhand, and Lundqvist stopped Justin Williams to give New York its third win in seven games — all post-regulation victories. Lundqvist made 29 saves in his NHL-leading 17th win a night after allowing eight goals in a roller-coaster loss at New Jersey.

Kings 3, Wild 1

LOS ANGELES — Erik Ersberg made 33 saves, Anze Kopitar and Michal Handzus scored on power plays, and Alexander Frolov added an empty-net goal for Los Angeles.
