NFL ties: Both Mount Union and Wheaton have players currently in the National Football League. Former Mount Union receiver Pierre Garcon has seen action for the Indianapolis Colts during his rookie season. Former Wheaton linebacker Andy Studebaker has a roster spot on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Switching sides: Former Mount Union offensive lineman Geoff Dartt returned to his old stomping grounds on Saturday as an assistant coach for Wheaton. Dartt was a starter on Mount Union’s 2005 and 2006 national championship teams.

Quest for three: This year’s senior class will look to become the third Mount Union class to win three Stagg Bowls. Mount Union won national titles in 1996-98 and 2000-02. With a title in 2008, the seniors will have championships in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Time to celebrate: Nate Kmic broke free for a 42-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to break the NCAA career rushing record. The game was stopped momentarily to honor Kmic, who was given the game ball.

Senior moment: The Mount Union senior class finished their career at home and finished with a 35-1 record at Mount Union Stadium. The lone loss was a regular season contest against Ohio Northern in 2005.
