Budget \ Scenario

Gov. Ted Strickland’s worst-case budget scenario if Ohio does not receive help from the federal government:

The Ohio Department of Education would drop per-student funding by $840.

Ohio State University’s state support would drop by $119 million.

6,480 elderly individuals who would normally qualify for full funding would not receive home-based care as an alternative to nursing homes.

Publicly funded mental-health services in Brown, Gallia, Jackson, Meigs, Adams, Scioto, Lawrence and Medina counties would be eliminated.

State parks would close; funds to regulate oil and gas production would be cut.

Ohio National Guard readiness would be severely strained.
