HUBBARD

Dec. 5

Fraud: A Hubbard man told police someone was fraudulently using his checks.

Assault: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported an assault at the school.

Dec. 6

Criminal mischief: A Jackson Street man reported damage to a window at his residence.

Dec. 8

Theft: Two men reported their vehicles had been broken into and items stolen while they were at a North Main Street restaurant.

Possible fraud: A Hubbard man reported that he never received merchandise he had sent away for.

GIRARD

Dec. 7

Theft by deception: An elderly Smithsonian Street woman told police she accidentally backed into a vehicle at a U.S. Route 422 store and that the driver said he was OK. Later, the man came to her home in a leg brace and wanted $1,500, claiming he wouldn’t be able to work for several months, and she gave him $50, the report said.

Dec. 8

Theft: A Powers Avenue man reported a laptop computer, a keyboard and a $900 flute stolen from his car.

Dec. 10

Theft/criminal damaging: A Dearborn Street man discovered a broken driver’s-side window to a company-owned vehicle, and that his wallet and a global positioning system device were missing.

LIBERTY

Dec. 6

Aggravated menacing: A Hadley Avenue man reported a 49-year-old driver with whom he had been in a minor accident has threatened to kill the accuser.

Burglary: Police responded to an alarm at a Sampson Road home and found the rear door had been kicked in. It was unclear if anything was missing.

Arrest: The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department turned over a Youngstown woman, 33, wanted on warrants from the township charging her with theft and a drug offense.

Identity fraud: An elderly Youngstown woman went to a Belmont Avenue bank and discovered someone had cashed in her certificate of deposit valued at $2,865.

Truck theft: A worker for a Trumbull Avenue business reported the theft of his 2001 Ford truck.

Dec. 7

Arrest: A Boardman man, no age given, was charged with aggravated trespassing, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence after police got a 911 call from a Sodom-Hutchings Road home about a vehicle that had driven through a yard. The homeowner said the man pounded on his door and made threats. Authorities said they found a digital scale and two bags of suspected marijuana.

Drug paraphernalia: Officers responded to a Tibbets-Wick Road residence about a possible stolen newspaper box and, while searching a vehicle, they found a metal box with suspected drug paraphernalia.

Arrest: A Youngstown man, 23, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail. He was wanted by Liberty authorities on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Arson: Police responded to a report of a vehicle fire and found a 2005 Dodge Durango engulfed near Logan Gate Road. The vehicle had been stolen in Youngstown, the report said.

Dec. 8

Arrests: Officers booked a Pittsburgh man, 32, and a 46-year-old Farrell, Pa., woman at the Mahoning County jail. Both were wanted on warrants from the township.

Dec. 9

Bad check: A Warren woman, 20, faced charges of passing a bad check and receiving stolen property after authorities responded to a report of someone trying to pass a stolen check in the drive-through of a Belmont Avenue bank. The check belonged to a Hubbard man, the report showed.

Assault: An employee of Belmont Pines Partial Hospital, 397 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, alleged a 16-year-old client punched her in the head several times, causing her to seek medical treatment for a lump to her forehead and neck strain. A charge was pending.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to a 27-year-old Youngstown man’s arrest on charges of possession of criminal tools and marijuana when, police said, a bag of suspected marijuana and a digital scale were found.

Dec. 10

Drug paraphernalia: A 17-year-old Warren boy surrendered to authorities and was arrested on a warrant from the county charging him.
