Penn State women beat Army for eighth victory

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Jamelle Cornley scored 15 points and Penn State overcame a sluggish start to beat Army 60-45 Wednesday night.
Talor Battle and Danny Morrissey each scored 14 points and Andrew Jones added 13 for Penn State (8-2), which was coming off a loss to Temple.
Josh Miller scored 10 points to lead Army (2-7).
Army remained within striking distance through most of the second half until Battle converted a three-point play with 3:11 left that extended the Nittany Lions’ lead into double digits for the first time at 54-43.
Army shot 19-for-50 from the field and hit 2 of 14 tries from 3-point range. Penn State also struggled from long distance, shooting 4-for-22.
Illinois 89, Chicago St. 50
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Mike Tisdale had a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Illinois. Mike Davis also had a double-double, scoring 11 points and collecting 12 rebounds for Illinois (9-1). Trent Meacham added 14 points and Demetri McCamey finished with 10 for the Illini. David Holstonled Chicago State with 17 points. Tawrence Walton had 11 points.
Indiana 66, TCU 56
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Devan Dumes scored 20 points and Tom Pritchard added 15 points for Indiana. The victory ended Indiana’s two-game losing streak, but TCU didn’t make it easy on the Hoosiers (5-4). Zvonko Buljan had 19 points and Keion Mitchem finished with 10 to lead the Horned Frogs (7-4).
Minnesota 74, S. Dakota St. 60
MINNEAPOLIS — Damian Johnson had a career-high 21 points to lead unbeaten Minnesota. Clint Sargent led South Dakota State with 26 points.
