Library to close Dec. 30

YOUNGSTOWN — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will permanently close the current South Branch Library, located at 1771 Market St., at 6 p.m. Dec. 30 to prepare for the move to the newly constructed Newport Branch, located at Market Street and Midlothian Boulevard.

The opening date of the new Newport Branch has not yet been determined but is expected in early February, says a library press release.

Patrons who checked out library materials at the current South Branch before the closing can either return those materials at any library branch or wait until the new location is open.

There will be no fines accrued on materials checked out at the current South Branch and due during the period the current library is closed and before the new library opens.
