Raftis’ 21 points lead Allegheny past Thiel
MEADVILLE, Pa. — George Raftis scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Allegheny shot 56 percent from the field to defeat Thiel, 89-78, in a non-league game Tuesday night.
Raftis also tied for the team lead with four assists. The Gators (4-4) were 27-of-48 from the field, including 9-of-16 on 3-pointers, and held a 26-14 edge at the foul line.
Henry Heeter added 14 points for Allegheny, while Charlie Jaicks and Craig Devinney scored 11 apiece.
Cory Chaffee scored 16 points for Thiel (1-7), while Nick Sefscik added 12 points and seven rebounds. Roddy Fuller (Warren Harding) added 15 points, and Sean Devinney and Keebo Dowe scored 10 apiece.
Tommy Hall (Campbell) had four points and three blocked shots for the Tomcats.
Wright St. 50, Toledo 35
DAYTON — John David Gardner scored a game-high 12 points, including Wright State’s only 3-pointer.
Gardner was the only player to score in double digits. Cory Cooperwood added six rebounds for Wright State (1-6).
Jonathan Amos led Toledo (2-7) with nine points.
Wright State hit 20-of-53 from the field for 37.7 percent shooting, compared to the Rockets’ 14-of-48 for 29.2 percent.
